Finally have time to work on the model and the labs locked, the other lab is having issues with the format the other lab's version used so now I don't have the options I had previously.

Unwrapping is taking forever, this one project is dropping me from an A to a D (potentially a F) due to the sheer number of buildings and mapping. >_<

Sunday, April 23, 2017

STILL working on unwrappng and getting the polygons SCALED CORRECTLY for UV maps. I hereby affirm I will NEVER used the scale tools for manipulating objects and will only scale by using vertices whenever possible! >_<

Actually modeling from angles as all the images and pictures are at angles and could find no side view or diagrams.

Monday, April 10, 2017

So, after weeks of searching there just don't seem to be straight on diagrams of the Fagus Factory by Walter Gropius, even in his original diagrams he drew it at an angle (from the submission to make it a World Heritage site). Still going to try to model it as accurately as possible with many angled images and a few ground floor diagrams.

Asian Mech Complete

Asian mech complete, he seems to think Frank Lloyd Wright's Imperial Hotel in Tokyo should be the next project, and I'm like, it's not even standing anymore, the people who commissioned it tore it down. Let's do something by Leonardo DaVinci, you know that guy... who did all that stuff.

Saturday, April 1, 2017

So gave the mech a bit of an Asian flair and named him Mech ManChu.

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Finished helmet (had to learn to reverse normals) and all the computer issues appear to have been solved!!

Tuesday, March 28, 2017

Max seems to be settling down was able to get through the initial spine video.

Forging Mech Shape.

Beginning the torso of the mech, utilizing transparent aluminum which allows far greater detail.

My sad texture map of the Mustang, but the insignia lines up in the right spot.

Thursday, March 9, 2017

All the wings and cockpit finished trying to do the landing gear but now Maya's wigging out on me. :(

Tuesday, March 7, 2017

Second intake done, time to duplicate then weld the wings, make the landing gear and cockpit, then texture it.

Monday, March 6, 2017

With President Trump increasing DoD budgets we are back to  the construction on the Mustang.

Wednesday, March 1, 2017

Mudbox Ogre texture mapped and with a greenish brown texture made very hurriedly due to multiple projects and tests tomorrow, but it still looks better than the black and white picnic blanket checkerboard.
Mud box Ogre has been unmapped to blend with boxes

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

Working on text for a Mudbox Ogre, for those interested a Mudbox Ogre is an ogre that lives in a box... down by the river... where there's mud. Hence the name.

Has a few hiccups replicated the propeller pieces but eventually they were beaten into formation.

Friday, February 17, 2017

Finished modeling the propeller, just need to quadruplicate (is that a word?) and on to the wings/fins.

Thursday, February 16, 2017

Finally found some good angle shots of the propeller blades in order to model them properly, none of the blueprints had detail on the propeller.

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Went back to start over with a sphere as in the long run it will potentially make the project faster and easier in the long run... I hope.

Thursday, February 9, 2017

Set up the guide images for modeling the Mustang today and sketched out plans for the basic shapes to start modeling. I'm looking at basically one cylinder and four cubes (and a lot of extrudes off of them) for the fuselage.

Wednesday, February 8, 2017

The next project will be a P-51 Mustang (P51D) which should be a good learning project for my summer project of building a 3D model of the Battleship Yamato and USS Arizona.

Tuesday, February 7, 2017

Completed with final textures that make all my efforts (to make it a little leaner) moot as it looks pretty much the same as tutorial standard with the white plastic texture. You can see a slight difference if you look at the arms close.

Monday, February 6, 2017

The down view of an Amazon drone dropping off your online order, do NOT order nitroglycerin this way, you will not like the result, unless you order it to have it delivered to someone else.

Friday, February 3, 2017

My spoon has now become a poorly stitched together Micky Mouse hat from the low budget amusement park and Disney Knock off Icky Mouse Land.

Thursday, February 2, 2017

After many weird things with Maya including a trip to the phantom zone and an alternate reality where the drone arm had a beard we appear to be back to normality.  >_<

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

The beginnings of a spoon, trying to use my mental powers to make it bend.

Tuesday, January 31, 2017

Today modeled the Oil Storage tanks at Cushing, OK to simulate what happens when the robot previously created attempts to save them from the bi weekly earthquakes.

Monday, January 30, 2017

So, apparently there are some issues with the work station I've been using at school. Even though the textures have been added they aren't showing up in the program (although they are there in the nodes and show up in the texture preview) and when you pull up the texture area it really starts to wig out as  shown in the screen shot below.
But, at least I"m DONE with the TEXTURING exercise so it's off to the next one!
Image taken from home with all the textures (school computer didn't show them all):

Finishing up with the texturing tutorial in Maya although as with many of PluralSight videos following along and doing exactly as the video does NOT produce the same result, by preview and windshield are somewhat different in color than the video, I think my autobot has the flu.

You can call me Optimus Prime, Dave.

Actually that's the end of his arm, so I guess "talk to the hand," the hand is Optimus Prime.

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

So today we learned to use edge loops (as opposed to the traditional method of beating it continuously with a sledge hammer and kicking it) to counter over softened edges. Edge loops ARE faster but no where near as therapeutically satisfying.  :(
