Today modeled the Oil Storage tanks at Cushing, OK to simulate what happens when the robot previously created attempts to save them from the bi weekly earthquakes.

So, apparently there are some issues with the work station I've been using at school. Even though the textures have been added they aren't showing up in the program (although they are there in the nodes and show up in the texture preview) and when you pull up the texture area it really starts to wig out as  shown in the screen shot below.
But, at least I"m DONE with the TEXTURING exercise so it's off to the next one!
Image taken from home with all the textures (school computer didn't show them all):

Finishing up with the texturing tutorial in Maya although as with many of PluralSight videos following along and doing exactly as the video does NOT produce the same result, by preview and windshield are somewhat different in color than the video, I think my autobot has the flu.

You can call me Optimus Prime, Dave.

Actually that's the end of his arm, so I guess "talk to the hand," the hand is Optimus Prime.

So today we learned to use edge loops (as opposed to the traditional method of beating it continuously with a sledge hammer and kicking it) to counter over softened edges. Edge loops ARE faster but no where near as therapeutically satisfying.  :(

And it's starting to look like a ship... or an Autobot's head.  Bring me Ratchet's head on a pike!

Further progress has been made on the cockpit, still requires a Ford F350 to move around though.

Learning is a process.

Didn't get to make anything new today, mostly learning about controls and the UI (user interface).

Hexagon made earlier in 3D Modeling with Maya exported as an obj, then imported to Poser with the Y scale adjusted to 10% and duplicated to create a hex grid battle map and an Ogre Mech added in homage to that old Battletech tactical combat game. Isn't 3D modeling awesome?!

Screenshot of the hex polygon worked on today, although mine's a bit deviated towards a old pewter miniature figure base style.

This is a post, as my skill set increases this post with attain higher resolution and increase in texture quality and mesh complexity.
